Hanga Roa Eco Resort

As part of an architectural competition process KRAUSE BOHNE Architects + Planners International was contracted for the development of an extraordinary resort. The World Heritage Site of Easter Island with its stone figures (Moai) is part of the so-called “mystical triangle”, together with the Pyramids of Giza and "Stonehenge".

The highly critical UNESCO requirements were met through an anthroposophic architectural language with soft, flowing natural forms.

A particular challenge was the procurement of all materials from the 3800 km distant South American continent, because all the resources of Easter Island are under strict protection. The hotel was inaugurated in summer 2012, accompanied by the international press.
